Are you interested in a Driving career? Greene King is here to give you a leg up, nurture your talent and equip you with the skills you need to jumpstart your driving career. 

We’re so committed to getting our delicious brews from A to B that we’ve invested in training the next generation through our very own Driver Academy. Once you are trained as a Dray Crew member, you’ll have the option to level up your skills and complete the Academy. 

Here are 5 essential skills that you’ll pick up and make you a top-notch Driver: 

Skill 1 - Customer service 

When it comes to deliveries, our Drivers are the face of Greene King, so by joining us you’ll be acting as a brand ambassador. You’ll have a lot of different drops which means interacting with a lot of different customers. 

We put customers first at Greene King so you’ll learn how to handle inquiries in a positive way and build rapport with our regular customers so you can walk away knowing you’ve delivered a brilliant customer service experience. Get ready to charm our customers with your friendly and professional attitude. 

At Greene King, you’ll be welcomed by a diverse group of people who all have one thing in common. We love to brighten someone else’s day and our Drivers do just that every day. 

Skill 2 - Teamwork 

Our Drivers work alongside a Mate who accompanies them on journeys. When they reach the delivery destination they work together as a team to get the job done. 

We want things to run smoothly as possible so you’ll be interacting with Warehouse staff, and other team members to get our brews across the finish line. Your teamwork skills will help you to navigate the roads together like a well-oiled machine. 

Each team member at Greene King is fuelled by mutual respect and is committed to making the leap to a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable future. We encourage everyone to bring their whole selves to work, and our Drivers play their part in creating a culture of belonging as they interact with a lot of teams across the business. 

Skill 3 - Safety and reliability 

We want you to cruise like a pro and that means being safe at all times. In the Driver Academy, you’ll be mastering safe driving practices that will keep you and your vehicle in tip-top shape. 

From learning the ins and outs of how to do a daily inspection of your vehicle to nailing hazard perception, you’ll always be learning and developing your knowledge of safe and reliable driving. 

Skill 4 - Communication 

From friendly banter with customers to keeping the team in the loop, your communication skills will help you to make sure everyone is on the same page. 

Communicating with your team and customers means that there’ll be no surprises for you, making the road a whole lot smoother. 

One of our key behaviours is connecting - so we communicate with respect and impact, build relationships, and demonstrate care and inclusion. 

Skill 5 - Time management and planning 

Making deliveries on time and sticking to your schedule is a key skill as a Driver. You don’t want your customers to be waiting around, after all. 

So we will teach you the best routes so you can keep your deliveries on schedule.
