As we celebrate International Men’s Day, we’re shining a light on the stories and perspectives of men across Greene King. Exploring what the day means to them, how they support others, and how they look after their own wellbeing. This week, we caught up with Adam, Communications Manager for the Brewing & Brands division, to hear more about his role, what motivates him, and his reflections on being a dad, a colleague, and a modern man in today’s world.

Tell us about what you do at Greene King?

I’m the Communications Manager for the Brewing & Brands division of Greene King. I joined the business in August 2025 as maternity cover, and I look after all divisional communications. Helping to showcase our wonderful people, celebrate our brilliant brands, and share updates on business performance.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

Being a jack of all trades! I could be editing a video, writing copy for a Director’s message, creating visual graphics, posting on one of our employee communication channels, or organising the next employee competition. No two days are the same, and I’m heavily involved in making sure our employees feel connected to the latest business activity, and that they also feel heard when it comes to sharing their thoughts and ideas.

How have you felt supported settling into your role so far?

I’ve felt really supported since joining. Everyone I’ve met at Greene King has been super friendly and always happy to help if I have a query. I have regular catch ups with my line managers and the Leadership Team, which means I get a range of input into what’s next and plenty of opportunities for feedback on what’s gone before.

What does International Men’s Day mean to you personally?

It’s a moment to focus on what men can be and how we continue to evolve perceptions of men.

As a dad of three young boys, I’m always focused on helping them become the best version of themselves. I want them to have a role model who is as in touch with their emotions as they are with their strength. Being a man can be complicated at times and being emotionally aware and intelligent can be hard to navigate, especially as we face different challenges. In my work life, I try to celebrate others’ successes and help wherever I can. I want to give back the same support I’ve received throughout my career.

How are perceptions of men changing?

I think my generation of men has never been more in touch with what really matters. When I look at the men around me at work, in life, and socially I see a group of people who are fully involved. They understand what’s right and wrong and aren’t afraid to call out poor behaviour or help drive positive change for future generations.

What helps you look after your mental health and wellbeing?

Regular exercise really helps me. I can get caught up in my own head, so having an hour a day to just focus on breathing and movement makes a big difference. I also love hiking and being outdoors, finding the less travelled paths and taking my camera along for the journey. My passion for photography and climbing has led to some really rewarding experiences. Another thing I can’t recommend enough is meditation and breathwork. Taking moments to connect with your mind and body has become essential for me, it does wonders mentally. I’d recommend finding a practice that fits your lifestyle.

How can we get men talking more openly?

I think there’s more desire than ever for men to have honest conversations, but some just need ‘leaders’ to help start them. I’ve grown up very differently from my dad, and I hope my boys will grow even more radically than I have. Being a man means so many different things, often defined by labels like dad, husband, or brother but ultimately, every man is unique. We all have endless opportunities to grow, to be good people, and to support those around us. For me, being a man is about being humble, hardworking, on the right side of good, and a support for others.

What message would you like to share this International Men’s Day?

That you are enough, and your defeats will never define you.

There are endless possibilities on the other side of being uncomfortable. Look how far you’ve come already.
