You will build and lead a new Digital Testing Centre of Excellence (CoE). This new CoE will define the testing strategies, models and ways of working to ensure that the Digital platforms are supported by robustly tested, resilient technology. You will work with external partners test teams to drive agility, quality and cost effective delivery for Greene King whilst also building our own inhouse capabilities as we take greater ownership of our technology strategy and delivery.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, and working with other CoE leads, you will be a key part of the Digital Technology leadership group to ensure delivery of a clear technology strategy aligned to our corporate vision and strategy, fully supporting our customers and pub teams in delivering our Digital products.
This role will play a key role in the wider modernisation of the IT function and as such you will have a strong background in establishing and running digital test functions based on modern technologies and industry best practice and shaping new ways of working supported by automation and tooling to maximise throughput and reliability

In your role as Digital Test Manager you will...
- Line management of team members including performance management and the development and retention of the team
- Resource and recruit a new Digital Test CoE to include capabilities around test management and operation, , user acceptance testing and end to end testing
- Create testing strategies, standards, processes, tooling and reference solutions for the engineering and technical work performed in the department in conjunction with the Head of Engineering
- Work with all CoE teams to ensure well planned environment and data provision across the Digital estate and instigate robust release planning across delivery phases and environments
- Identify and engage partners and internal teams with best practise around test strategy and operation, automation testing, incorporation of CI/CD principles, security standards and performance testing.
- Measure, report and govern test and quality performance to ensure compliance and necessary quality standards.
- Work with the Senior Digital Support Manager to establish clear processes and strategies for the safe and efficient handover of code from product and project teams into support operations including Operational Acceptance Testing,
- Work with project and product teams to estimate and resource initiatives and proactively engage to continuously improve operational effectiveness, cost and agility, whilst also removing and mitigating challenges to ensure successful delivery
- Evaluate Greene King’s requirements for future testing resourcing and capabilities
- Consult and engage as part of Greene King’s strategy to expand Digital development capabilities inhouse and initiate and manage testing initiatives and projects to support this
- Investigate opportunities to exploit approaches that will have a measurable effect on process effectiveness, and quality with associated benefits to the business.
- Encourage the wider adoption of digital test strategy and principles across the wider Greene King group, being a catalyst for change and improvement
What you'll bring...
- In depth knowledge of testing practice within the Software Delivery Lifecycle, an advocate of Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement and industry recognised Best Practices
- Experience of various project development methodologies. Flexibility to work in Agile, waterfall and hybrid environments
- Experience of building, leading and managing Test functions
- Strong technical test skills, both functional and non-functional, manual and automation across system, system integration and user acceptance test phases
- Understanding of automated quality pipelines and how testing can and should be incorporated
- Experience of managing third party suppliers to agreed test strategies and have evidence of increasing value received
- Experience of working on a multi-stream delivery model
- Experience and knowledge of data governance with strong understanding of data dependencies and structures
