Company Description

As Group FP&A Manager your role will be responsible for analysing the trading performance of the Group and running the forecasting calendar and process. This role has a focus on internal reporting and includes periodic trading performance reviews, running the budget and forecasting process, understanding the Group's cash flow position and preparing CKA (shareholder) reporting.

The Corporate and Strategic Finance team partners with the CEO, CFO, COO and CXO, and their respective teams. The team consists of high-performing finance professionals who, in addition to providing technical expertise and setting policy in the fields of Tax, Treasury and External reporting, support and drive the business in Property, Procurement, Operational Excellence and strategic projects, whilst business partnering the Corporate Functions. The overall team is further responsible for setting the Group planning agenda and strategic plan and driving the results to balance the needs of the business and the shareholder.

Job Description

Your role as FP&A Manager

  • Review, understand and challenge weekly trading & financial updates from across the group
  • Review of weekly Group trading note
  • Consolidate the monthly flash output and provide detailed commentary to the CFO on variances to Budget
  • Provide forward looking robust guidance on likely performance across key P&L lines to enable an equally robust rolling P&L forecast to be maintained.
  • Prepare consolidated Risks & Opps and In-Period Forecasts on a quarterly basis, including preparation of appropriate templates and review of divisional submissions
  • Liaise with the property and strategy finance teams to maintain visibility and profit impact of estate plans and transformational projects.
  • Provide regular competitor analysis to the CFO and Executive Board
  • Prepare and issue financial planning timetable, ensuring appropriate timelines
  • Liaise with supporting finance teams to ensure budget and forecast guidance is issued in a timely manner and adheres to the timetable
  • Manage and complete submission of Budget and re-forecast in the consolidation system alongside with managing expectations and queries from stakeholders
  • Liaise across, and effectively engage with, the various finance teams of the GK group to ensure successful consolidation of 5-year business plans, budgets and major forecasts.
  • Support the Senior Finance Manager to review and analyse the business plans, annual budget and major forecasts and then effectively communicate to the CFO and various boards the challenges, risks and opportunities of the submitted plans.
  • Carry out loading of budget and re-forecast into Business Intelligence software
  • Be responsible for the updating and upkeep of 5YP consolidation model
  • Be responsible for periodic Group cashflow, including looking into variances, ensuring correct reporting of FCF and submission of FCF into the Group Dartboard
  • Be responsible for writing cashflow commentary on CFO report
  • Understand and keep up to date on working capital variance and review working capital budget and forecast submissions
  • Ad-hoc projects, analysis and insight as required.
  • Work closely with Corporate Finance Business Partner as required for various work streams and data requests
  • Assist Senior Finance Manager – Internal reporting with reviews of output from Finance Business Partner

What you’ll bring

  • Qualified Accountant CIMA (or equivalent)
  • Commercial background with retail or manufacturing sectors experience is preferred but not essential
  • Proven ability to assimilate, understand and provide insight on key financial information.
  • Creation and understanding of advanced excel spreadsheets, most especially for modelling
  • Clear communicator, both written and in person. Ability to deliver key financial and commercial messages successfully
  • Attention to detail, ensuring that outputs are of high quality
  • Strong people & team communication skills
  • Desire to learn, improve and grow
  • Enquiring mind with proactive approach to identifying solutions to problems
  • Consistently deliver on commitments, despite challenging timescales and competing priorities
