This is a Manager (M2) Career Band

This role will report into the Social Media & PR Lead and sit within the Group Marketing Function as central marketing team working across both the Greene King Pubs and Destination Brands divisions. Responsible for supporting the proactive PR plan for both divisions, the role will also report – through a dotted line – into the Director of External Communications, to ensure the proactive PR plan aligns to the overall Greene King communications plan.

With Greene King’s ambition to create strong and compelling brands that customers admire, the role will work closely with the marketing teams to understand the key messages and objectives to build a comprehensive communications plan that excites, inspires and creates impact with the target audience.

Alongside the proactive communications plan, the role will also play in integral role in protecting the reputation of the business through the 24/7 press office function.

Job Description

Your role as Consumer PR Manager

  • Work with the Social Media & PR Lead to develop and deliver a comprehensive PR strategy for Greene King; setting clear direction to the retained PR agency on objectives, communications challenges and ensuring the PR plans adhere to the strategy
  • Oversee the delivery of the consumer PR plan through the management of an external agency, from planning, briefing, implementation and evaluation
  • Draft and oversee the output of all press material for the both divisions – announcements, press releases, photo-call notices, features, website copy and media packs
  • Work closely with the Director of External Communications to ensure all proactive communications are aligned to the overall communications plan, and support cohesive & integrated messages where possible
  • Play an important role on the Press Office 24/7 function providing strong reactive media statements and strategic guidance during business issues/crisis
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate brand awareness and recognition through the delivery of reactive stunts that achieve high impact national coverage
  • Partner with the social media team to develop and enrich campaigns through integrated marketing that achieve increased reach and engagement
  • Work closely with the brand directors and business unit marketing team to understand their goals and objectives to develop engaging and high performing PR campaigns that deliver the required results

  • Ability to establish positive working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Excellent influencing skills coupled with the ability to impact across a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience in consumer PR role
  • Some experience of line management
  • A strong communicator that can adapt for audiences of varying degrees of knowledge  
  • Strong written and oral English language skills - able to write clearly, effectively and succinctly and able to transform technical content into understandable, concise copy
