As our Climate Governance & Engagement Manager you will take a leading role in group climate governance and business upskilling, responsible for managing group environmental reporting as well as engagement and upskilling of our teams, suppliers and partners in all aspects of sustainability. Greene King has taken a global leading position on addressing climate change, committing to near term Science-Based Targets and a carbon net zero target of 2040. You will be instrumental member of our ESG & Sustainability team, driving collective delivery of our targets.

Job Description

As our Climate Governance & Engagement Manager you will take a leading role in group climate governance and business upskilling, responsible for managing group environmental reporting as well as engagement and upskilling of our teams, suppliers and partners in all aspects of sustainability. Greene King has taken a global leading position on addressing climate change, committing to near term Science-Based Targets and a carbon net zero target of 2040. The successful candidate will be instrumental member of our ESG & Sustainability team, driving collective delivery of our targets.

In your role you will

  • Lead on data collection, analysis and validation of ESG metrics, compiling reporting for internal and external stakeholders whilst supporting the establishment of data reporting systems and reporting structure
  • Coordinate ESG upskilling strategy for key internal stakeholder groups and external partners and suppliers
  • Manage the Environment & Social team member forum and draft the bi-weekly ESG newsletter
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, working in partnership and being the subject matter expert for all things related to annual ESG reporting and environmental regulations
  • Support the Environment & Social strategy and provide regular updates and presentations when required and championing sustainability across Greene King, supporting in the development of the roadmap
  • Manage ESG risk and ESG related regulatory compliance and horizon scanning
  • Oversee all ESG related assurance working with external partners
  • Lead group policy assessment through Environment & Social lens, implementing change into existing policies and implementing relevant new policies
  • Work with communications teams to communicate relevant internal and external compliance requirements to relevant stakeholders

What you'll bring...

  • Bachelors degree in relevant subject (business, sustainability, accountancy) with further environment specialist qualifications preferable
  • Audit, risk, compliance, governance, finance or regulatory experience ideal
  • Solid understanding of computer software platforms (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Experience in sustainability reporting such as TCFD, ISO14001, CDP
  • You’re a self-starter with a high energy level and a good problem solver with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
  • A team player, able to work with professionals from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds, while being capable to operate independently
  • Ability to influence and catalyse change through the application of exceptional interpersonal, relationship building and collaboration skills
  • Strong sense of social purpose driven values and empathy, being an advocate for purpose led change with a commercial, creative, and pragmatic thinking
  • Strong project management skillset and excellent attention to detail
