About the role...

Steeped in history and with foundations dating back to 1736, the Railway has been a popular pub for tourists and locals alike. Originally called the Cow House, it was renamed to its current name after the invention of the railways in 1804.

We're on the lookout for a driven and customer focused Assistant Manager to support our General Manager and fantastic team to push this beautiful pub to the next level. 

What you'll do as an Assistant Manager...  

  • Collaborate with the General Manager to create and implement strategies to enhance the pub's profitability and overall performance.
  • Supervise and lead a team of bar staff, waitstaff, and kitchen personnel, ensuring they provide exceptional service to our customers.
  • Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, stock management, and staff scheduling.
  • Maintain a welcoming and safe environment for customers and staff, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Assist in planning and executing events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to attract and retain patrons.
  • Manage cash registers, handle cash transactions, and ensure accurate accounting procedures are followed.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and cleanliness of the pub to create an appealing and comfortable atmosphere.
  • Help train and develop staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

What you'll bring...  

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within the hospitality industry is required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A passion for delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations, including stock management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends
