As a Warehouse Team Leader, you will play a key role in driving operational excellence at our distribution centre. You will lead a team to ensure the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods while maintaining a safe and productive working environment. Your leadership will support the achievement of key performance targets, service levels, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, motivate, and coach a team of warehouse operatives to achieve operational targets.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and support staff development.
- Drive a positive team culture, promoting engagement and accountability.
Operational Excellence & Productivity
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet volume demands and deadlines.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure team members adhere to best practices.
- Report and address any hazards, near misses, or incidents proactively.
Stock & Inventory Management
- Ensure accurate stock handling, storage, and rotation in line with warehouse processes.
- Work closely with inventory teams to resolve discrepancies and minimize stock loss.
- Support cycle counting and stock reconciliation activities.
Communication & Collaboration
- Liaise with other departments (Transport, HR, Stock) to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate operational updates, priorities, and expectations clearly to the team.
- Ensure seamless shift handovers and maintain accurate records.
Experience – Previous experience in a warehouse leadership or supervisory role.
People Skills – Strong ability to engage, lead, and develop a diverse team.
Problem-Solving – Proactive approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
Attention to Detail – Ability to manage workflows while maintaining accuracy.
Health & Safety Knowledge – Understanding of warehouse safety regulations and best practices.
IT Proficiency – Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is desirable.
