Senior Purchasing Manager

As a Senior Purchasing Manager you will report into the Food Purchasing Director the role will have the responsibility to help develop and deliver the procurement strategy but also be capable of managing your own category independently. As a skilled negotiator you’ll be required to adapt your approach to accommodate different cultures and be highly influential to ensure engagement from senior management teams. You’ll work alongside the Buying Director to define the function vision, lead procurement activities in key product categories, and contribute to the strategic development of the wider commercial function.

Your role as a Senior Purchasing Manager

• Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for agreed categories ensuring the wider business is kept informed of all relevant developments both short and long term
• Design and implement category strategies which significantly improve the commercial performance at a Group and Regional level whilst maintaining compliance to company standards and mitigating risk
• Day to day contact with all relevant suppliers, be responsible for managing these supplier relationships to the required standard.
• Identification of areas of Purchasing opportunity and negotiation to the point of recommendation to the Food Purchasing Director on pricing and contractual proposals.
• A detailed awareness of the marketplace identifying innovation opportunities, risks and any new potential suppliers.
• Engage Brands to actively collaborate in the deployment of category plans
• Completion of supplier reviews, monitoring, reporting, and ensuring compliance with all contractual commitments contained within agreed supply contracts for the suppliers in the determined categories.

What you’ll bring…  

• Experience in managing across multiple product categories
• International purchasing experience in the meat & poultry categories essential
• BA/BS/Batchelors Degree or experience in lieu thereof
• Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem solving abilities.
• Strong understanding of strategic sourcing
• Commercial awareness
• CIPS qualified
• Clean current driving licence
• IT literate - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Office
• Willingness to travel
