Job description

Welcome to a bold new hospitality concept where community, culture and creativity meet.

This exciting new venue is rooted in the belief that public spaces should be joyful, creative and inclusive. Set in a beautiful, reimagined pub space, it will serve great food and drink, feature regular live entertainment, and act as a creative and cultural hub for the community. We’re building something special, and we’re looking for a General Manager with the energy, expertise and purpose to bring it to life.

About the Role

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial, community-minded leader who can combine strong commercial instincts with a deep understanding of people and place. Someone who knows pubs inside-out but also sees their potential to be something more: places of belonging, celebration and creativity.

You’ll run the venue like it’s your own. You’ll lead a team passionate about great service, be on first-name terms with the regulars, and keep the calendar buzzing with community events from live music to poetry nights. Whether someone pops in for a drink, an event, or a roast, you’ll make sure they leave feeling welcome, seen, and excited to come back.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Leading a Venue with Purpose

  • Build a welcoming space that feels rooted in its community, celebrates culture and creativity, and offers people a reason to keep coming back, not just for a drink, but also for the atmosphere, the experience, and the sense of belonging.

  • Be a visible, present leader, someone customers trust, and your team looks up to.

Sales and Performance

  • Take full ownership of venue performance, achieving and exceeding sales and profit targets.

  • Use data, local knowledge and creative thinking to make smart decisions that drive results.

  • Keep the venue safe, clean and compliant at all times, uphold the highest food safety standards and act quickly and confidently when needed.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and inspire a passionate, inclusive team.

  • Coach your people to grow and thrive, supporting them as individuals while aligning with a shared vision.

  • Create a strong sense of purpose and pride, building a culture where the team feels valued, energised, and part of something meaningful.

Community and Culture

  • Develop weekly rhythms of live entertainment and local activities that bring people together.

  • Champion the venue as a cultural and social destination that celebrates under-represented voices in hospitality and culture.

  • Build links with local organisations and lead community engagement with confidence and care.

Marketing and Storytelling

  • Promote the venue across all channels, from social media and posters to in-person relationships.

  • Tell bold, relevant stories that reflect the venue’s identity and build excitement.

  • Celebrate the culture, talent and values that make this venue what it is.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Strong pub and hospitality experience, with P&L accountability and proven commercial results (or willingness to lead with support).

  • A people-first leadership style – passionate about team development, customer service and high standards.

  • Experience designing or delivering regular in-house events or entertainment (or willingness to lead with support).

  • Confidence with labour management, stock control and operational processes.

  • The creativity and resilience to challenge the status quo, solve problems and adapt fast.

  • A flair for connection (online and offline) and a passion for celebrating culture and community.

  • A commitment to equity and inclusion, and a passion for supporting and amplifying under-represented communities in hospitality.

What We Offer

  • £45,000 salary.

  • On-site accommodation.

  • Excellent training and professional development opportunities.

  • Annual performance-related bonus.

  • 20 days holiday, plus bank holidays.

Our Values

This venue is rooted in values of audacity, excellence, belonging, creativity, impact and celebration. We are building something special and are looking for someone who will embody and champion these values day-to-day.

This is a chance to be part of a new chapter for British hospitality, with a focus on creativity, culture and community. Are you ready to lead it?
