Your role as a Public Affairs Executive
- Proactively position Greene King as a business that supports the UK economy, local communities, skills development, and the labour market by drafting letters to MPs, coordinating meetings with political stakeholders, and maintaining an up-to-date log of meetings, consultations, and correspondence.
- Support lobbying efforts by identifying and targeting relevant political stakeholders, and assisting in meetings between them and Greene King’s senior leadership to communicate business challenges and advocate for policy changes that reduce the cost of doing business.
- Assist the Group Communications Director and Public Affairs Lead in engaging with trade associations and strategic partners including UK Hospitality, the British Beer and Pub Association, and the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group
- Contribute to drafting consultation responses on key topics such as national budgets, Pubs Code statutory reviews, guest beer market access, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), ensuring Greene King’s voice is clearly represented in policy discussions.
- Support the execution of key public affairs campaigns and projects.
- Take ownership of gathering and submitting content for trade association surveys and relevant policy consultations, ensuring Greene King’s perspectives are effectively communicated.
What you’ll bring……..
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Able to manage a busy workload with differing deadlines
- Be able to interpret complex information and translate to easy reading and comprehensible communications
- An idea of media relations to help see where we need to join up the external news and political agendas
- Keen interest in political and current affairs and the media
- Confidence to engage with MPs assistants and teams to organise meetings
- Desire to understand the workings of the business
- Inquisitiveness to look for answers to questions put to Greene King by trade associations and to respond appropriately
- Good news sense
