As Payroll Manager you will manage a team of Senior Payroll Administrators and Payroll Administrators in preparing timely, accurate payment of thousands of employees and pensioners across our four-weekly payrolls.

Please note this is an 18 month contract. Also, we have an agile working policy with 3 days working in our Bury office and 2 days working from home.

Your role as Payroll Manager:
- Overseeing the team in all aspects of Payroll processing, including quality assurance of work carried out by the team
- Responsible for final sign off of Payrolls
- Owning and maintaining Payroll process manuals, and the Payroll risk register, continually reviewing risks inherent in the Payroll process and taking mitigating action
- Troubleshooting system issues and resolving/escalating as is necessary, and responsible for testing and implementation of Payroll-related system upgrades and fixes
- Line management of Payroll team including coaching/training and development
- Assessing the performance of the department by measuring and analysing KPIs
What you’ll bring…
Expertise in Payroll, having managed high-volume Payroll departments for 5+ years
Passionate and proven manager, with experience of managing large teams, and managing through others.
Organised, methodical, self-motivated and committed to providing quality service
- Ability to react positively to sudden and unexpected changes in demand; a “can do” attitude”
- Good level of IT literacy inc, experienced user of Oracle Peoplesoft or similar HCM systems.
- Excellent numeric and literacy skills
