Empowering Diversity in the Workplace
Employee Led Inclusion Group - Ability
Our Ability employee led inclusion group is dedicated to supporting individuals with visible and non-visible disabilities. We’re focused on fostering a workplace that removes barriers, creates opportunities, and makes Greene King a truly disability confident employer.
Our Mission
We champion inclusivity and aim to encourage those with disabilities to join our teams by recognising and valuing their individual talents.
In addition to raising internal awareness of disabilities, we are also committed to enhancing the guest experience by working closely with other Greene King teams to create a welcoming and accessible environment for our disabled customers.
Our Accomplisments
Raising Awareness
Supporting National Awareness Days is a crucial part of our committee’s actions. We also deliver a range of events designed to drive a deeper understanding of experiences for those with disabilities.
Milestones
We’re proud to have worked alongside key stakeholders to make Greene King a Level One Disability Confident Employer. But we don’t plan on stopping there and aim to apply for Level 2!
The Ability Pin
Our committee is passionate about ensuring people don’t feel alone, have the confidence to share their stories and seek support if needed. So, we introduced our ‘Ability Pin’ to encourage employees to share their own personal stories, wearing a badge with pride.
SEE WHAT OUR MEMBERS HAVE TO SAY
‘It is so important for Greene King and our community that everyone maximises their potential. Our Ability committee enables this by educating, encouraging, and showing empathy.’
Benjamin Savill - Audit Manager
'Dare to dream big and do something about it’
Ellie Fowler - Learning Content Advisor
Future Aspirations
We have developed and shared various resources for our colleagues with visible and non-visible disabilities, but we know that disabilities don’t just impact the person with lived experience – there is often also a significant impact on the network around the individual.
We are therefore aiming to expand our support to our Greene King colleagues who might be a family member, friend or line manager to someone with a disability and is navigating their own journey too.
How can you get involved?
After joining GK all team members get access to our internal communications platform, Kingdom where they can join our groups so that they can interact, share ideas and feedback on activity and progress.
