Job description

The Operations Simplification Manager will be responsible for identifying opportunities in our pub operation where we can do things quicker, easier, differently, or not at all, allowing the business to make efficiency savings and / or improving the customer and team experience. Using the extensive insight they gain from engaging with stakeholders, observing activity, and analysing data, they will propose and trial solutions, effectively evaluate the results, and provide compelling recommendations to the business. Working closely with the wider Operational Excellence function, they’ll ensure the right activity sits in the right place, handing on insight and opportunities accordingly. They’ll also develop a strong affinity with the Deployment function, working with them to identify opportunity and create realisable business cases. They will be driven by, but not limited to, a clear efficiency savings target, and will help create a ‘pipeline’ of robust, tried-and-tested opportunities that can be deployed by the Divisions as required, and as change capacity permits.

Qualifications

Your role as Operations Simplification Manager - (Innovation Sites)

  • Identify opportunities where the operational tasks in pubs could be improved and simplified, by:
  • Frequently and confidently engaging with a broad range of pub teams, from Team Players through to Divisional Leadership to understand where friction points exist
  • Observing task in pub across the trading day / week
  • Analysing relevant data that may provide insight (e.g. Deployment Models, Pub Queries, etc.)
  • Keeping an eye on the external market / industry activity and competitor trends
  • Filter and prioritise opportunities accordingly, balancing speed / complexity of delivery with size of opportunity. Have an effective set of criteria in place to determine which to process, which to hand to the wider Operational Excellence team, and which to pause / abort
  • Engage effectively with senior central stakeholders and process owners to:
  • Secure buy-in to change how we do things
  • Identify the appropriate changes required
  • Plan and execute ‘test & learn’ trials in pub, including:
  • Engaging with and training pub teams
  • Liaising with external solution suppliers
  • Defining clear success measures
  • Monitoring the trail at every stage, resolving issues and making amendments as required to keep it on track
  • Measuring and capturing findings / outcomes, working with Deployment Analysts and other stakeholders to quantify the opportunity
  • Create clear, compelling proposals for change, which can be handed to Divisional teams / central stakeholders for implementation

What you’ll bring… 

  • Strong background in hospitality, ideally pubs and restaurants
  • A sound knowledge of the end-to-end site operation
  • Confident in using reports and interpreting data to assess performance
  • Experience of planning and delivering projects
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
