Job description
The purpose of this role is to be responsible for designing, implementing and managing effective training programs and interventions for our tenanted and leased Partners. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and an understanding of learning principles required in the licensed trade industry.
The Learning Experience Manager will be responsible for the delivery of the core learning calendar for new and existing Partners, which will include new Partner induction, as well as ad hoc learning interventions required by the business.
The Learning Experience Manager will act as an ambassador for Greene King Pub Partners, continually looking to improve the learning offer we deliver to new and existing Partners. The role will be involved with the maintenance and review of the learning material and delivery methods, ensuring that regular reviews are carried out, and proposing changes through consultation with Pub Partners stakeholders.

Your role as Learning Experience Manager
- Strategic planning and implementation – to develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy that aligns with Pub Partners goals and objectives. Identifying future training opportunities to maximise our Partner’s business driving opportunities.
- Training Needs Analysis – to conduct Partner training needs analysis to identify skills gaps and areas for improvement that can be addressed in the Pub Power Welcome and ongoing training interventions.
- Program Design and Delivery - Design, develop, and deliver engaging and effective training programs, workshops, and e-learning courses. Ensure training content is up-to-date, relevant, and aligned with Pub Partners key focus topics. Support Apprenticeship programmes, where appropriate.
- Technical Proficiency - Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms. Ability to leverage technology to enhance learning experiences.
- Evaluation and Measurement - Implement methods to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, such as pre- and post-training assessments, feedback surveys, and performance metrics. Use data and analytics to measure the impact of training and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Collaboration - Work closely with the Pub Partners operations team and marketing team, and subject matter experts to develop customised training solutions, where required. Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support learning initiatives. This will include working with the Pub Partners franchisee Learning and Development team.
- Budget Management - Develop and manage the learning and development budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Team Leadership and Development - Lead and mentor a team of trainers. Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Continuous Improvement - Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in learning and development. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of training programs.
What you’ll bring…
- Strategic Thinking – Ability to align learning and development initiatives with the organisation’s strategic goals. Can balance short-term requirements with long-term objectives to achieve commercial goals. Proficiency in identifying future skill requirements and planning accordingly.
- Instructional Design - Expertise in creating engaging and effective training programs. Knowledge of various instructional design models and methodologies.
- Communication skills - Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Proficiency in presenting information in an understandable manner.
- Project Management - Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage resources effectively.
- Analytical Skills - Capability to assess training needs and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs. Proficiency in using data to drive decisions and improvements.
- Technological Proficiency - Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms. Ability to leverage technology to enhance learning experiences.
- Interpersonal Skills - Strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders. Empathy and understanding to support and motivate learners.
- Adaptability - Flexibility to adjust training programs based on feedback and changing needs. Openness to new ideas and continuous learning.
- Leadership - Ability to lead and inspire a team of trainers and development professionals. Proficiency in mentoring and coaching others.
- Cultural Awareness -Understanding of diverse learning styles and cultural differences. Ability to create inclusive training programs that cater to diverse learners.
- Relevant and meaningful experience in Learning and development delivery.
- Experience of working in the retail/leisure/hospitality sector in a L&D management and delivery role.
- Understanding of the technical and system aspects of the hospitality business.
- Knowledge of Learning Managements Systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
- Experience of working within work-based education or apprenticeship programmes.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in a matrix environment to understand business development requirements for design and deliver solutions.
- CIPD L&D Level 5 preferred.
