Company Description

As Group Finance Manager your role will be responsible for all technical and statutory aspects of Greene King’s financial reporting and compliance. This role has a focus on external reporting and includes Statutory Reporting, delivery of the external audit, technical accounting and judgements, period end consolidation process and CKA reporting.

The Corporate and Strategic Finance team partners with the CEO, CFO, COO and CXO, and their respective teams. The team consists of high-performing finance professionals who, in addition to providing technical expertise and setting policy in the fields of Tax, Treasury and External reporting, support and drive the business in Property, Procurement, Operational Excellence and strategic projects, whilst business partnering the Corporate Functions. The overall team is further responsible for setting the Group planning agenda and strategic plan and driving the results to balance the needs of the business and the shareholder.

Job Description

To be responsible for all technical and statutory aspects of Greene King’s financial reporting and compliance. This role has a focus on external reporting and includes Statutory Reporting, delivery of the external audit, technical accounting and judgements, period end consolidation process and CKA reporting.

  • Build relationships across the finance community, particularly with the Centre of Excellence
  • Develop strong relationships with CKA and the auditors to discuss relevant accounting/statutory items with the CKA accounting team/auditors.
  • Manage the periodic consolidation process
  • Manage and review the preparation and delivery of our monthly and quarterly reporting to CKA
  • Manage the delivery of the consolidated group financial statements including preparation and/or review of sections and notes
  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager (SFM) in the overall delivery of the group audit, developing a strong relationship with the auditors, proactively discussing and resolving issues as and when necessary
  • Assist the SFM in providing technical accounting conclusion and papers as required to the FC, FD, CFO and external auditors
  • Support the statutory accounts manager as required to deliver all subsidiary statutory accounts
  • Assist the SFM in reviewing and setting accounting policies as required
  • Delivery or review of financial models including goodwill, intangibles and investments
  • Manage IFRS 16 and other PPE related transactions for the group 
  • Develop and automate complex and changing reporting requirements, ensuring best practice is balanced with pragmatism and accuracy
  • Prepare and review the interest and debt forecasts for the annual budget and 5 year strategic plan process
  • Responsible for all aspects of treasury accounting including bonds, loans and derivatives
  • Understand and maintain the consolidation system, enhancing its use across the team
  • Drive specific accounting projects as required e.g. Fixed Assets / IFRS 16 / financial due diligence
  • Assist and deputise for Senior Finance Manager
  • Identify and implement process improvement where relevant

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, able to explain and present technical items in simple ways
  • Ability to flex with changing priorities

Qualifications

A Qualified accountant, with proven technical (IFRS and FRS 101) experience
