About the role
The Star in Chalton, LU4 9UJ, are recruiting for an experienced Kitchen Manager to join their Senior Management Team. We are a high volume village pub (100 internal covers) with a large pub garden (300 external covers, we host music festivals and events in the Summer with 600 attending, usually on a BBQ or reduced menu).
You will have experience managing a busy branded pub kitchen: motivating, training and managing a kitchen team, ensuring adequate staffing levels (including recruitment alongside the GM when necessary), stock management (including working to spec with portion control, food ordering, line checks and fortnightly full stocks) and ensuring the kitchen is consistently at a 5* standard - in both hygiene AND food preparation/production. Ideally you will have been maintaining a 5* kitchen in your previous roles and will be able to demonstrate this.
The Star is part of the Greene King Locals family - we are a Neighbourhood Pub & Kitchen - and as such, you'll be entitled to a staff discount (50% when on shift, 33% when off shift) and friends and family discounts, as well as a target led bonus scheme on top of salary. Career boosting training is available through Greene King. This is not a Live-In position.
